Direct Marketing Analyst – Level 1


Job Summary

The level I direct marketing analyst designs and implements marketing campaigns for a wide variety of SofTrek's nonprofit clients, develops strategies for targeted marketing campaigns and is responsible for the overall campaign design, data extraction criteria, segmentation criteria, development of campaign goals/budgets, and overall execution of each campaign.  This position can be located in Amherst, N.Y., or in the greater NYC/NJ area.

  • For each nonprofit client, uses “best practices” to properly implement/configure the appropriate campaign setup/coding to ensure optimal use of the existing database marketing tools.
  • Analyzes the overall results of each campaign (actual to goal), the performance of individual market segments, and provides feedback on the effectiveness of the campaign strategy.
  • Relies on extensive direct marketing experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a wide variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Takes business direction from a Senior Business Analyst or Vice President.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Interfaces with clients’ marketing and operations teams to understand their campaign strategies/goals.
  • Provides input to clients on strategy and execution based on knowledge of best practices.
  • Works with analysts and software engineering teams to determine the best approach to set-up/configure our direct marketing application and the supporting data to address their needs.
  • Manages client acceptance of overall campaign strategy, approach, testing protocols, and results reporting.
  • Uses our business intelligence reporting tools to provide visibility into the details of each campaign.
  • Analyzes the overall results of each campaign (actual to goal), the performance of individual market segments, and provides feedback on the effectiveness of the campaign strategy.
  • Guides clients through process from concept to execution to results reporting, when every campaign is executed.
  • Provides input and feedback to other analysts regarding direct marketing practices.
  • Participates in requirements sessions with software engineer teams related to how the software should be modified/enhanced to function better as a direct marketing/campaign management tool.
  • Stays apprised of innovative direct marketing approaches, best practices, and technologies, and works with internal teams to ensure we are providing the tools and capabilities our clients need to execute successful direct marketing campaigns.
  • Performs other duties as required by the Senior Business Analyst or Vice President.
 
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a minimum 3 to 5 years practical work experience in direct marketing, statistical analysis, campaign management, or database marketing.
  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with direct marketing/campaign management software.
  • Direct marketing agency experience a plus.
  • Experience using database tools and 4GL query languages (i.e. SQL).
  • Experience using commercial business intelligence tools (i.e. Business Objects, Crystal Reports, JasperSoft, etc.) to develop ad hoc queries and reports from complex databases.
  • Passion for direct marketing, database marketing, and campaign management.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project-management skills and ability to instill project-management discipline through program planning / execution process.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations, or fundraising direct marketing or sales, a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deliver presentations for both internal and external clients.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products as well as other tools.
